Sonnet 15: It was a huge letdown

By Tatiana Suarez-Pico

It was a huge letdown
a velvet bag full of doubt
dropped on your head to make you drown
but what we do usually is pout

We sit there and think of the weight
of the stones that wear uniform gray
It's the bag that makes it hard to swallow all that citrate
We take the bag down and find a way to allay

Pick up the phone to make another call
We don't want to lose
Courage is gathered yet we stall
Time to refill the booze

We greet the voice on the other side
and our chances seem to glide
