PRO'S: LEGAL PLATFORMING
- Podcast with sex workers. They said when a new online platform allows sex workers to do business, they can scope out customers, don't need pimps and middle men who rip them off, and can safely deposit money. Also crime goes down. Crime goes down against ALL WOMEN when sex workers are allowed to do business. It's a scary thought that there are men out there who use sex workers like therapists and, if they do not get 'their medicine' they are more likely to kill any woman.
- STD's go down by 40% when sex workers are brought into normal tech, banking, accountability, and healthcare.
- Conversely every time a legitimate online platform kicks off sex workers, things get worse for them. When Backpage was taken down by the Feds, there was a percentage jump in the number of sex workers murdered, raped, assaulted in every city.
-Shutting down Rentboy didn't eliminate male prostitution. It just made it more difficult for sex workers to keep a record of dangerous criminals and report crimes.
CON'S
-some health experts argues that porn is a mental healthcare crisis. They also have stats that say America's porn addiction leads to more rape and assault. They also have studies that the porn industry inadvertently -and some times directly- leads to an increase in sex trafficking and child sex trafficking. Therefore there is no legitimized system that's gonna makes society safe.
- They admit that it's impossible to cancel porn or sex work, but that it should be as difficult as possible.
-Sex work is the most dangerous job in the world. Fatality: 200 out of every 100,000. 2nd most dangerous? Liquor store manager: 4 out of every 100,000. Gov should be discouraging a job that is a danger to the employee as well as society.
